PFAS Contamination

Per and PolyFluorinated Alkyl Substances (PFAS) are a group of highly-soluble, man-made chemicals that include PFOA, PFNA, PFOS, GenX, and many others that have been manufactured and used in a wide variety of industries around the globe since the 1940s.

PFAS are highly effective at repelling moisture and grease—but their extreme stability has earned them the name “forever chemicals.” They don’t break down naturally, allowing them to accumulate in soil, water, wildlife, and the human body over time.

One of the most significant sources of PFAS contamination is firefighting foam used at airports and military bases. For decades, these foams were routinely used in training and emergency response, allowing PFAS to seep into groundwater and spread into nearby drinking water supplies and communities.

Exposure to PFAS has been linked to a range of health concerns, including developmental effects, liver and immune system damage, hormone disruption, and an increased risk of certain cancers. Because they persist and travel easily in the environment, PFAS contamination can impact communities far beyond the original source, making cleanup and regulation especially challenging.

Proven to Extract PFAS from Soil

We understand the complexity of PFAS, there are more than 15,000 variations of PFAS with over 7 million potential chemical structures. Iron Creek Group’s advanced thermal technology utilizes conduction, convection, oxidation, and vaporization to capture the forever bonds that hold the molecules in Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances together. From small impacted surfaces to full-scale remediation of PFAS-impacted soil, our technology volatilizes the contaminant, effectively removing it from the soil, restoring soil back to health.

ETC & TecZero™ Technologies

Thermal is the only proven way to break down PFAS molecules. Iron Creek Group’s innovative thermal technologies are designed to reach temperatures sufficient to destroy PFAS chemicals. Both the ETC and TecZero are mobile, quiet, and simple to operate. The technology utilizes patented systems to treat contaminated soil through thermal desorption conduction and convection to break the chemical bond and destroy the hazardous components. Each design incorporates a "core" heating system that can utilize propane, natural gas, or diesel. This energy efficient system produces a very low amount of exhaust gas, which is routed through air extraction ducts to an off-gas treatment system. It functions as a thermal oxidizer, destroying organic vapors at temperatures in excess of 1,800°C, or the vapors can be processed using vapor-phase granular activated carbon, which is then returned to the vendor for high temperature reactivation, thereby destroying the PFAS.

Iron Creek technologies introduce a safer, more efficient and effective solution for PFAS remediation than current conventional technologies.

Safety is Our Number One Priority

Our technology is designed to meet the most rigorous regulatory standards because we understand the biggest liability to site remediation is human health and safety.
