Treat Contaminated Soil and Restore Land Value With

Enhanced Thermal Conduction Technology

Iron Creek Group’s award-winning Enhanced Thermal Conduction (ETC) technology safely and efficiently provides ex-situ soil remediation. Treatment is enclosed safely destroying organic contaminants. Treated soil is delisted and backfilled on-site.

Remediating Complex Contamination Using Advanced Ex-situ Thermal Treatment Units

Iron Creek Group’s compact and scalable enhanced thermal conduction technology can quickly mobilize to your location, no matter the climate. Within days the technology can be operational, safely destroying organic contaminants.

Our Technology

How Our Advanced Mobile Soil Remediation Technology Restores Land

Destroys Organic Contaminants

Eliminates petroleum-, creosote-, explosive-, PFAS variant- and other organic contaminants.

Eliminates Landfill Disposal

Eliminates the need to excavate and haul hazardous waste to landfills, increasing liability.

Protects Soil Integrity

Preserves soil structure and minimizes exposure risks while producing negligible emissions.

Reduces Long-Term Liability

Delists and declassifies waste, removing long-term liability.

What Is ETC?

Enhanced Thermal Conduction (ETC) is Iron Creek Group’s ex-situ thermal treatment system purpose-built for contaminated soils. Excavated soil is enclosed within an air-tight treatment cell, where indirect heat drives off organic contaminants without direct flame contact with the material. Vaporized contaminants are captured and destroyed. The result? Treated soil is contaminant free and meets the strictest regulatory requirements. The soil can be backfilled to the site — no hauling hazardous waste, no landfill disposal or imported soil required.

How ETC Differs from TecZero™

Both ETC and TecZero™ are ex-situ thermal technologies. Material is excavated and treated to regulatory requirements. The difference? ETC is designed for drier soil that can be stacked directly over heating elements and enclosed for treatment. TecZero™ can treat at very high temperatures. It is also ideal for treating wet, sludgy materials like refinery tank sludge, wastewater biosolids and similarly saturated waste that ETC’s stacking method isn’t suited to. This is why TecZero™ is built to treat wet material without prescreening. In practice, site assessment and contaminant determines which system fits a given job, and some sites may require both technologies.

Why ETC Technology

Why Our Soil Remediation Technology is the Smart Solution

Iron Creek Group’s ETC technology addresses soil contamination safely and efficiently. It’s also typically more cost-effective than alternative treatment methods.

Lower Project Costs

Reduces transportation, landfill disposal, and overall remediation expenses.

Resource Recovery

Recovered hydrocarbons help power the remediation process.

Rapid Deployment

Treat contaminated soil anywhere in the world, in any climate, within days.

Safe by Design

Static treatment cells require only a small crew and eliminate moving treatment equipment.

Why ETC Outperforms Conventional Remediation

Through intelligent design and proven success, our state-of-the-art technologies surpass traditional waste remediation methods.

Treated soil meets and exceeds regulatory requirements and can be backfilled on the client’s own site rather than hauled to a landfill and replaced with new fill. The process keeps native soil in place.
ETC systems are compact enough to mobilize by air or ground to remote and cold-climate sites, operating year-round rather than being limited to a seasonal window.
Treatment cells scale to the volume of contaminated soil on-site, from small urban parcels to large legacy industrial sites.
Indirect heating uses less energy than direct-flame alternatives, with a smaller physical footprint than fixed-facility thermal desorption.
Mechanical loading and unloading reduces crew contact with contaminated material and the associated safety and liability exposure.

Frequently Asked Questions

ETC systems are compact and portable — agile enough to mobilize by air or ground, including to remote sites — and are typically deployable and operational within days of arrival, depending on site access and conditions.
ETC is ex-situ. Soil is excavated and stacked over heating elements in an enclosed treatment cell, rather than treated in the ground — it is a more thorough way to fully eliminate contaminants than in-situ methods allow.
ETC is built for drier contaminated soils that can be stacked directly over heating elements — typical of brownfield, oil field, and legacy industrial sites. Wetter, sludgier material (like refinery tank waste, waste water solids, and heavy PFAS-saturated soil) is better suited to Iron Creek Group’s TecZero™ system.
Yes. Treated soil is clean, the soil structure is maintained, and it will naturally re-vegetate with rainwater so it can be backfilled on the client’s own site rather than sent to a landfill. Likewise no replacement fill needs to be sourced.
ETC treats a broad range of organic contaminants, including PFAS, petroleum hydrocarbons, VOCs, and explosives (TNT/RDX), among others.
Yes. ETC systems are designed to mobilize and operate year-round, including in cold-climate and remote locations where seasonal or logistical constraints would limit conventional remediation methods.
Yes. Treatment is designed to meet or exceed applicable EPA and state/provincial regulatory standards.
